On September 27, 2023, DOST-Cavite, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Tanza, conducted a seminar on food safety.
Ms. Joan Mae B. Acasio, a member of the Food Safety Team of DOST-CALABARZON, led the discussion on various food safety topics, including the importance and benefits of food safety, principles and guidelines for personnel hygiene, equipment and facility maintenance and sanitation, proper handwashing, food quality and protection, control and operations, and product information, among others. Participants acquired basic skills and knowledge necessary to implement best practices in ensuring the ongoing production of safe and high-quality products.
In response, Ms. Salvacion from DTI Cavite expressed appreciation to DOST-Cavite for sharing knowledge about food safety standards and practices, and she looks forward to further collaboration for the benefit of the people of Tanza. Food safety education is crucial for safeguarding our communities.
As such, DOST-Cavite remains committed to ensuring compliance with food safety standards through seminars, technical assistance, and consultancy. This approach empowers food producers to adopt and maintain food safety practices.
