In the face of increasing climate-related disasters and natural hazards, the province of Cavite through the initiative of the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer spearheaded the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month bannering this year’s theme, “BIDAng Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience” on July 25, 2023 at the Social Hall of Trece Martires City National High School. With a proactive and community-driven approach, the Provincial Government of Cavite showcased its efforts in mitigating risks and promoting disaster preparedness throughout the province.
One of the significant highlights of the program was the sharing of experiences, strategies, and success stories in disaster resilience of DepEd-Cavite, Bacoor City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Philippine Red Cross-Cavite Chapter. Each one had a unique story to tell, demonstrating how their respective communities had effectively tackled disaster challenges and fortified themselves against potential hazards.
Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding among OPSWDO, Kabalikat Civicom and Bacoor Homeowners Association Council Inc. was signed, signifying their commitment to work collaboratively in order to develop, expand and promote the spirit of volunteerism along social welfare and development towards enhancing individual growth, community involvement and social responsibility during emergency situation.
Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs Alvin S. Mojica and Ms. Eloisa G. Rozul, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer graced the program and commended the initiatives of the province in the journey towards disaster resilience. Likewise, they extended their unwavering support in order to build a more resilient community. The event was participated by local social welfare and development officers and local disaster risk reduction and management officers of different cities and municipalities of the province, and representatives from the Department of Education-Cavite, DepEd Division Offices of Cavite City, Gen. Trias City, Dasmariñas City, Bacoor City and Imus City.(picad)
