CITY OF MANILAโAs part of the month long celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), officials and employees of the DPWH Central Office, National Capital Region, and Regional Office IV-B recently jumpstarted series of activities in connection with its festivities.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the resumption of face-to-face activities this year is a well received change from the online ceremonies in the last three (3) years due to restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
โThis year, we will still have simple ceremonies and activities but we will be able to gather freely to celebrate the monumental 125th Anniversary of the Department with the theme: Makasaysayang Daan tungo sa Maunland na Kinabukasan,โ said Secretary Bonoan.
In June 1, DPWH jumpstarted the anniversary celebration through the opening of Sports Fest, followed by a Fun Run held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from DPWH Central Office to Quirino Grandstand and back.
Other upcoming activities prior to June 23 include: Tree Planting at the La Mesa Nature Reserve in Quezon City; Basketball and Volleyball Tournament; e-Sports Tournament; Serbisyo Caravan for Employees which will bring services of Philippine statistics Authority and Department of Foreign Affairs; Launching of New Office Uniform; Diorama Exhibit Contest to be participated by all DPWH Regional Offices, Unified Project Management Offices, Bureaus, Services, and the Office of the Secretary; Exhibit on Innovating Infrastructure Management thru Visualization in GIS and Mixed Reality.
During the anniversary day, June 23, activities are as follows: Thanksgiving Mass; Anniversary Program which will cover the Recognition of Retiring Officials and Employees and those who have rendered 40 years of service; Recognition of Most Outstanding Regional Office and District Engineering Office; Awarding of Winners for the Diorama Contest, PGS Branding Logo Design Making Contest, and Basketball/Volleyball/E-Sports Tournament; and DPWH Idol Contest.
