The whole-of-government approach in eradicating poverty and hunger continues as national government agencies in CALABARZON affirms their commitment under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty or EPAHP.
During the EPAHP Exhibit and Supervision, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Support (SMES) Year 2 held at SM City Santa Rosa on October 10, the National Irrigation Administration and the Department of Social Welfare and Development spearhead the event attended by member agencies of the EPAHP and Task Force on Zero Hunger, as well as various irrigatorsβ association in the Calabarzon region.
The primary objective of the event is to create a platform that empowers farmers by enabling them to directly showcase and sell their agricultural products and various commodities in the market that could lead to boosting their sales and increasing their income.
The regional implementation of the EPAHP in Calabarzon is in line with the Executive Order No. 66 of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., reorganizing the Task Force on Zero Hunger and the Memorandum Circular No. 47, mandating that member agencies have a coordinated, responsive and effective government policies, initiatives and projects on attaining zero hunger.
The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which the Philippines is a state party, governments should recognize the fundamental right of everyone to be free from hunger and undertake measures which are needed to improve methods of production, conservation and distribution of food, in which the government responded with the creation of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
