To provide the Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) members in every barangay with the basic firefighting and emergency response skills and planning competency. The Bureau of Fire Protection Las Piñas City Fire Station spearheaded by SUPT MELCHOR B ISIDRO, City Fire Marshal and its Personnel through the unwavering support of the local government of  the City, duly represented by Hon. April Aguilar- Nery, City Vice Mayor, conducted the first mass Basic Skills for Responders Training Seminar recently held at Hansuyin Village Covered Court, Brgy. Talon Kuatro, Las Piñas City. The said seminar was participated by eight barangays: Almanza Uno, Pamplona Dos, BF International/CAA, Manuyo Uno, Manuyo Dos, Talon Kuatro, Talon Tres, and Pulanglupa Uno.

A CFAG unit shall be established in every barangay following the standard structure and responsibility.

This shall be the immediate responder in case of fire, as well as serve as the main organization that will ensure the mitigation of hazards in its area of concern.

The Las Piñas City Fire Station would like to express its gratitude to everyone who contributed their efforts to make this activity a success.

Isidro said, that CFAG forms part of the “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan” which has four stages namely Handang Pamayanan (ready community), Bayanihan Program (cooperative undertaking), Kaagapay Program (companion).

Under the Handang Pamayanan, the barangay will create a community fire protection plan and establish a community hazard map to identify the hazard areas, and such plan will be laid out in case of fire incidents. The Bayanihan Program focuses on neighborhood initiatives in creating fire plans and an expansion of abilities and skills will be taught to the volunteer fire brigade who will then be considered as members of CFAG. The Kaagapay Program, on the other hand, gives emphasis to the capacity building of firemen, wherein the BFP personnel will conduct barangay visits for basic fire safety awareness among the household members.(Bfpphoto/Renante Arjay Jarobel/Marjorie Mahusay)
